北京时间8月1日，巴黎奥运会网球混双半决赛，中国组合张之臻/王欣瑜携手出战，对阵荷兰组合舒尔斯/库尔霍夫，“臻欣”组合在先丢一盘的情况下，最终2比1完成逆转，晋级混双决赛。

本届奥运会，原本是张之臻和郑钦文搭档出战混双，但是由于奥运赛程积压，且郑钦文在单打比赛中消耗过大，张之臻/郑钦文组合决定退赛。

但中国代表团发现，混双项目替补的国外组合综合排名在160位左右，这意味着ATP排名第41位的张之臻搭档任何一位中国女子球员都能有资格参加混双。于是，曾在法网拿到过女双冠军的王欣瑜临危受命，和张之臻临时组成了搭档。

令人惊喜的是，这对刚刚组成的混双组合在赛场上打出了令人眼前一亮的表现，第二轮抢十险胜2号种子埃博登/佩雷茨之后，张之臻/王欣瑜闯进了混双四强。

半决赛对阵舒尔斯/库尔霍夫，中国组合更进一步，晋级决赛创造历史，期待中国网球能够站上巴黎之颠。
